Reforming: The Cross
Wed, Mar 11
|Bellefield Towers
Have you been told that the reason Jesus died is that God was angry at your sin and the only thing that would make God feel better was the death of God's innocent Son? Would you be surprised to learn that this is not the only way to think about the cross? Or that it's not even the oldest way?

About the Event
We are kicking off a new series of mid-month gatherings so that we can spend more time together in deep discussion. Let's work together to increase our knowledge, sort out what we believe, and create a functional relationship with the Bible!
The first topic we will tackle is The Cross.
Have you been told that the reason Jesus died is that God was angry at your sin and the only thing that would make God feel better was the death of God's innocent Son?
Would you be surprised to learn that this is not the only way to think about the cross? Or that it's not even the oldest way?
Together we'll trace the history of explanations for the cross, from the earliest Christians to modern liberation theologians. Along the way you'll pick up ideas you can fashion into your own theology.
Also, there will be snacks!
