You may have already met Taylor at a community dinner, a youth hangout, or a neighborhood service project. But this term you will have many more opportunities to get to know her as she completes 45 hours of service assisting with our community dinners, neighborhood ministry, LGBTQIA+ programming, and youth hangouts! She'll be doing this work for her Intro to Social Work course at the University of Pittsburgh. We asked Taylor to introduce herself here with a few words about what she's up to. When you see Taylor please thank her for choosing to invest in The Commonwealth of Oakland!
I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh graduating with a bachelor’s of English Literature in the Spring. I was recently admitted into the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work to receive a master’s degree in Social Work.
I'm also involved in PittServes under the Service Leadership Committee, where I invite Pitt students to attend volunteer projects each month. I have a passion for helping others, and hope to become involved in community organization and social action in Pennsylvania after receiving my master’s.
I love reading, writing, and watching scary movies.
I'm very excited to work with the Commonwealth of Oakland for the next few months, and looking forward to meeting as many people as possible!
